K-12 CAMPUS

Located in Chicago’s neighborhood of West Loop, this design takes inspiration from various aspects of landform architecture and is focused on the creation of a secondary ground condition via elevated courts and greens. The form itself encourages a central path of circulation through the two block campus, while the curation of its hardscape/softscape demarcates areas of captured landscape for both public and private use.
The exterior facade is made of lightweight, aluminum levers that help control the sunlight coming through the large spans of glass that wrap around the building; it also creates a unique texture on the exterior and gives the impression of moire effect when moving around the form. The masterplan for the rest of the k-12 campus follows the same design ideas; these can be seen most clearly in roofscape and circulation diagrams (right).
